Upcycling projects
I'm a big fan of recycling and upcycling, and am often the recipient of unwanted 'things'.
I like to think that I can give them another life.
Although on here there are not any of my past projects I will be posting my new efforts.
The Mirror Project
I was given this mirror which looks to be a gilt effect. I expected it to be very heavy, however it was quite light as the surround was plastic!
I removed the backing and the mirror, which was easy as there were screws to the backing rather than tacks or staples.
I then put the surround in the shower ( yes really!) it was the best place to give it a good wash and clean up ready for painting.
And then I spend a week deciding what colour to choose!.
In the meantime I found some lovely curtains to go into my home office refurb ( converting into more of a bedroom than an office) and decided to do the mirror dark grey.

Terrible picture I know and not showing the curtains well at all, but I think you get a gist of the colour.
So after deciding on dark grey, I set out about finding the right colour and type of paint.
Putting the car in the garage one evening I caught sight of a can of paint on a shelf, when I moved it I found a can of dark grey spray paint and primer.
Well there you have it!!!!
Within half an hour the frame was sprayed and I was woozy on fumes!!!!
I gave it two coats to be sure of full coverage and was pleased with the results.

PLEASE NOTE,I DID NOT SPRAY PAINT ON THE CARPET!!!!
I left it for another day to 'cure' and then found tin of 'sparkle' paint ( I buy odd tins when I see them , as you never know when they will come in handy!)
I just gave the mirror a quick flick of this paint, nothing too much.
I left for another day to dry ( this was easy as I was at work during the day and did the painting in the evening).
And then I hung it.
And very lovely I think it looks too.
This was a simple make-over. And gave a dated mirror a more up to date look.
