Cricket isn't a matter of life or death.
It's much more important
The Season is in sight
So the season 2017 is nearly upon us and the first visit 'home' took place at the weekend as I ventured down the A1 for the AGM.
I am not going to rehash the events as every hack and his mutt have been doing that since Saturday .
However, I will say that listening to the Chairman and the CEO give complete clarity on the financial situation of the club, I genuinely feel that they are moving in the right direction.
There are still going to be tough times ahead, we have to try to weather the storm
What is more worrying is the 'new stand' which seems to be thwarted at every council meeting.
This stand is essential to the future test status of the ground. Not only that but with the probable regional T20 format in the offing, it becomes a no brainer.
Now talking T20, the franchised format will be 'as well' as the normal county T20.
Will this be a good move?
Financially yes, but once again I wonder how the County Championship can compete with this.
The County Championship my beloved form of the game.
I feel that the CC has now become the 'old maid' of the game, sat in the corner and giggled at by the youngsters.
That said, it was explained to us the money that is 'won' by the clubs in the domestic competitions it is not a lot, nowhere near what you would expect.
That being said, I still expect my boys to bring the Trophy home this season.
no pressure.
And now that the AGM is over, let the season 2017 commence!
